How To Repurpose Content Across Platforms

Making one piece of content per platform per day is a recipe for quitting. Most people do quit, right around month four.

A creator at a desk holding up a phone labelled Original Content and pointing at it. Arrows run from that phone out to five platform mock-ups of the same clip: an Instagram reel, a YouTube video, a LinkedIn post, an X post and a TikTok, each in its own interface with its own counts.

How To Repurpose Content Across Platforms

Making one piece of content per platform, per day, is a recipe for quitting. And most people do quit, right around month four.

There’s a better way, and it’s not glamorous. It’s just recycling with intention.

Start with one solid idea, not one solid post

Here’s the shift. Don’t make an Instagram post and then try to squeeze it onto LinkedIn. Start with an idea, then dress it for each room.

Say your idea is “most creators price too low because they’re pricing their time, not their result.” That’s the seed. Now it can become a 45-second Reel where you say it fast with a hook. A carousel breaking it into five slides. A LinkedIn post with a client story attached. A tweet that’s just the sentence itself.

Same idea. Four completely different outfits.

The platforms want different things

Instagram wants pace and personality. LinkedIn wants a story with a lesson at the end. YouTube Shorts wants a hook in the first two seconds. TikTok wants you to sound like a person talking, not a person presenting.

Copy-pasting the exact same caption everywhere is why repurposed content usually flops. It’s not the recycling that fails. It’s the laziness in the translation.

Long to short is easier than short to long

Film a ten-minute video or write a full newsletter first. That single piece has probably six Reels inside it. Chop it up. The best 40 seconds of a long video usually outperforms something you made specifically to be short.

Repeat yourself more than feels comfortable

Your audience did not see it. Something like 5 percent of your followers see any given post. So that thing you said in March? Say it again in July, worded differently.

This week, take your best-performing post from the last three months and rebuild it in a different format. That’s it. One idea, second life.
