CPM ranges based on publicly reported creator data and industry benchmarks.
Creators earn from YouTube mainly through ads. Google pays a share of what advertisers spend against their videos. Here is how that works and what it comes to.
YouTube gives creators 55 percent of the ad revenue. An advertiser paying 100 dollars leaves the creator 55 dollars. The rest stays with YouTube.
The rate per view is not fixed. Most creators earn 1 to 3 cents per view. Three things move it. The topic, because finance pays more than vlogs. The audience country, because bids in the United States and Europe run higher. And engagement, because watch time decides how many ads a video can carry.
| Niche | CPM range | Est. at 100K views/mo | Est. at 1M views/mo |

| Business & Entrepreneurship | $8 – $15 | $800 – $1.5K | $8K – $15K |

| General / Other | $1.25 – $4 | $125 – $400 | $1.3K – $4K |
CPM moves with season, niche and audience country. The last quarter of the year pays the most. Viewers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia attract the highest bids.
Ad revenue scales with views, but the rate per thousand depends on the niche. This table puts the ranges above against common monthly view counts. The figures are the creator share, before tax.
| Monthly views | Gaming ($1.5–$3.5 CPM) | Other ($1.25–$4 CPM) | Finance ($10–$20 CPM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $15 – $35 | $13 – $40 | $100 – $200 |
| 50,000 | $75 – $175 | $63 – $200 | $500 – $1K |
| 100,000 | $150 – $350 | $125 – $400 | $1K – $2K |
| 500,000 | $750 – $1.8K | $625 – $2K | $5K – $10K |
| 1,000,000 | $1.5K – $3.5K | $1.3K – $4K | $10K – $20K |
| 10,000,000 | $15K – $35K | $13K – $40K | $100K – $200K |
Rates are the creator share after YouTube keeps 45 percent. Shorts pay far less per view than long form.
The same 100,000 viewers, with 1 percent buying one 25 dollar product, produce 25,000 dollars. That gap is why the calculator shows both numbers.
Ad revenue needs the Partner Program. The thresholds are 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watch hours in the past 12 months, or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.
Once you are in, a channel can earn from all of these.
Your own store. Many creators earn more from direct sales than from ads. Digital products, templates, presets and courses carry high margins and do not wait on the algorithm.
Sponsorships. Brands pay to appear in your videos. Rates follow views, engagement and niche, and an integrated placement commonly runs well above the ad rate for the same audience.
Affiliate links. You earn a cut when a viewer buys through your link. It costs little to add and works best on reviews and tutorials.
Between 1 and 3 cents per view for most channels. A finance or business audience can pass that. A gaming or entertainment audience usually sits under it.
One thousand views pays about 1.25 to 4 dollars in a general niche. The same thousand views pays 10 to 20 dollars in finance.
About 125 to 400 dollars from ads in a general niche, and 1,000 to 2,000 dollars in finance. The niche moves this more than the view count does.
About 1,250 to 4,000 dollars in a general niche. Finance and business channels at the same size run from 8,000 to 20,000 dollars.
Roughly 1.5 million monthly views in a general niche, or about 350,000 in finance. Most creators reach that number faster by selling something than by growing views alone.
At 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours in a year, or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. Products and sponsorships have no threshold at all.
What the numbers mean, and where they come from.
It gives a range, not a number. Real earnings move with watch time, audience country, video length and the time of year. Treat the range as a sanity check on a plan or an offer, not as a forecast.
CPM is the cost per thousand ad impressions. It is the headline rate an advertiser pays, and it is the figure this calculator runs on.
CPM is priced against ad impressions. RPM is priced against your views, and it is usually 40 to 60 percent of CPM because not every view carries an ad. CPM is the number creators quote to each other, so it is the number used here.
Yes. Run your current views through it to see what the ad side would be worth once you pass the Partner Program thresholds, and what the same audience could be worth today if you sold something.
Above 10 dollars is strong and almost always means a finance, business or software audience. Between 4 and 8 is healthy. Under 2 usually means a young or very broad audience.
Price it on the views a video of yours actually gets, not on your subscriber count. Integrated placements commonly run from 10 to 25 dollars per thousand views, which is several times the ad rate for the same audience.
The second card estimates it. It assumes between 0.2 and 1 percent of your monthly viewers buy once at 25 dollars. Change either assumption and the number moves, which is why both are printed next to the result.
